1. Kanchenjunga Peak
On top of our list of highest peaks in India, the first one is the Kanchenjunga peak. It also ranks third in the list of world’s highest peaks. A height of 28,169 ft makes it the highest peak of India. Located along the India – Nepal border in Sikkim, this mountain peak is amongst the few most dangerous ones in the world.
2. Nanda Devi
This is India’s second-highest peak in our list. With a height of 7816 metres, it was the highest mountain in India and the world till 1808. Since Kanchenjunga shares a border with Nepal, we can also conclude that it is the highest peak in India. This mountain is situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and is amongst the most beautiful ones.
3. Kamet
It comes at third place in our list of highest peaks in India. With a height of 7756 metres, it is highest amongst the peaks located in Jaskar mountain range(Garhwal region), of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is very near to Tibet and lies in a remote region which is mostly not accessible. Three other peaks also surround this peak.
4. Saltoro Kangri Peak
Located in the most beautiful state of India- Jammu and Kashmir, this peak ranks on the fourth place in our list. It has got a height of 7742 metres and is the highest among the peaks in the Saltoro mountain range. The famous Siachen Glacier is very close to this mountain range. Among the independent mountain peaks of the world, it has got the 31st place.
5. Saser Kangri Peak
It is another tall peak situated in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which falls under the group of Saser Muztagh mountains. It has got a height of 7672 metres which makes it the 5th highest in India and it also ranks 35th in the world ranking. Its location and beauty attract many visitors.
6. Mamostong Kangri Peak
It will not be wrong to declare that Jammu and Kashmir is at the peak in terms of having the highest peaks in India because the 6th one also lies in this beautiful state. With a height of 7516 metres, it ranks 6th in India and in the world ranking, it occupies the 48th position as independent peaks of the world.
7. Rimo Peak
Along with three other peaks in the Rimo Muztagh mountain, it is the highest one in Rimo Murtagh range with a height of 7285 metres. Located in the very known Karakoram ranges of Jammu and Kashmir, Karakoram Pass lies towards its Northern side which serves as the prominent trade route for central Asia and Siachen glacier is towards the north-eastern side.
8. Hardeol Peak
It is also referred to as the ‘Temple of God’ and comes at the eighth spot in our list. With the height of 7151 metres, it guards the famous Nanda Devi. A prominent peak of Kumaon Himalaya, it is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
9. Chaukhamba Peak
It is the highest peak in the Gangotri group which has three more peaks other than the Chaukhamba I -the highest one. It has got this name because of these four(“chau”) peaks(“kamba”). With a height of 7138metres, it is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand in Garhwal region and occupies the ninth place in the list of highest mountain peaks of India.
10. Trisul Peak
There are three peaks in the ‘Trishul’ group out of which Trishul I with a height of 7120 is the highest one. It has got its name because of its resemblance with the weapon of Lord Shiva called ‘Trishul’. Its location is nearer to the famous Nanda Devi sanctuary located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and occupies the tenth position in our list of highest Indian peaks.
