The cola spray gives the drink the amber hue which is similar to its name. One of the well-liked version blends the equivalent fractions of vodka, rum, gin, triple sec into 11⁄2 portions of the sour blend along with the splatter of cola.

The invention of the Long Island Iced Tea is claimed by Robert “Rosebud” Butt. According to him, in 1972 he invented the drink for getting an entry in a contest. The contest was intended to make a new mixed drink with triple sec. During that time Robert was working at the Oak Beach Inn which was situated on the Long Island of New York.
A little unlike drink is alleged to have been made-up in the year 1920. An “old man bishop” made the drink through the Prohibition in the United States. The old man lived in a neighborhood community which was known as the Long Island in Kingsport, Tennessee. The old man bishop’ son perfected the drink.

The drink included maple syrup along with the whiskey. The drink also contained five different liquors. It was different than the rather than the modern one with cola and five equal portions of the five liquors.
How to make Long Island Iced Tea
The preparation of Long Island Iced drink is really very simple and requires very less time. For making the Long Island Iced Tea you will need the following things:
- 50 ml of triple sec
- 50 ml of light rum
- 50 ml of gin
- 50 ml of vodka
- 50 ml of tequila
- 100 ml of sour mix
- 500 ml of cola.
- Lime juice for taste
- Lemon slices for garnishing
After you have gathered everything, now let us move to the making procedure.
- Take a big jar of about 1.5 liters to 2 liters capacity.
- Pour the tequila, vodka, rum, gin, and triple sec into the big jar.
- Now, put in some lime juice to taste.
- Take ice and fill the jug with it.
- Keep stirring until the outside wall of jar starts to feel cold.
- Now add the cola and blend the solution completely.
- Drop the slices of lemon.
- Now take small glasses and fill them with ice cubes.
- Now pour the solution into them and serve with love.
Sometimes, Long Island tea is prepared excessively strong. A lot of bartenders pour excess of liquors. This ruins the original taste of the drink and also, makes it strong. The drink becomes too booze. Therefore, while drinking it one must be cautious. But if the drink is made with value and concern, also the person making the drink is conscious about the taste then it will be a great drink.
