Holidaying in 2021 was all but a write-off, and the inability to travel internationally forced many people to reconsider how and where they choose to take their holidays.
There are different styles of holidaying depending on where in the world you live; for example, in Spain and Portugal you can holiday in a villa, but if you live in America, you might find it more standard to holiday in a hotel.
Despite all the cultural differences when it comes to holidays, all countries share one common accommodation: the motorhome.
What is a motorhome?
Motorhomes are vehicular homes. They are not to be confused with caravans. Holidaying in a caravan or motorhome is a very different experience because caravans – popular in the UK – cannot be moved. They’re akin to bungalows or small apartments that are commonly placed in a designated holiday park. Although motorhomes are also similar to bungalows, they’re smaller, on wheels, and can be driven from place to place without needing to be towed.
This offers so much freedom and with this comes an abundance of benefits, the first of which is the lack of planning.
Spontaneity
As mentioned, motorhomes offer you the freedom to just get up and go. No need to book, no need to scrimp and save for expensive accommodation – when you own a motorhome, you can wake up one day and decide to go on holiday. It’s really as simple as that!
If you like to live life on the edge and lead a relaxed lifestyle, owning a motorhome is the way forward. Provided you have time off work and the means to support yourself on the road, the world is your oyster and time need not be a restraint on your plans.
You will need to consider where you will park your motorhome overnight, and this might require some degree of forward-thinking, but provided it’s legal on your route, you could always park in layby’s or lorry parks if there isn’t a camping ground nearby. This will also be cheaper than paying pitch fees.
Extended Break
Prior to 2021, road trips were seen as retro and a thing of summers past, but being unable to travel has seen people become creative in the ways they explore their home countries, and holidaying in a motorhome is one of the things that has been resurrected. In addition to it being an option for last-minute holidaymakers and those on a budget, it also allows you to take a more extended break.
If you have enough money to support yourself, you can travel around in your motorhome for as long as you desire. The amount you will save on accommodation will preserve a big chunk of your budget, and the freedom of not having to book separate travel allows you to see more sights and extend your experience beyond one or two destinations. If you’re in dire need of a long vacation but your bank account disagrees, a motorhome holiday could be the way forward.
No Strings
By now it’s become clear that motorhome trips offer extended flexibility and freedoms, but perhaps to most attractive of these is the fact there’s little to no commitment. You needn’t worry about having to leave your holiday early or paying a cancellation fee because there are no such things. You don’t have to answer to a hotel, you only have to answer to yourself, so if you want to cut your holiday short or move it to a different date, you have the option to do so with no strings attached.
With all these benefits, what’s not to love about motorhomes? It might time to invest and upgrade your holidays to something a little more laid back because one thing is for sure, and that’s that motorhomes are making a comeback!
