What is Twerk? & How To Twerk?: Twerking as you know it today, was not the same from its beginning. This type of dance moves like many others has evolved and originated out of the Bounce Music scene of New Orleans in the late 1980s. It was also not practiced or done by women, unlike today. This Dance Move consists of throwing out your hips backward and shaking your booty with a piece of energetic music in the background.
How To Twerk?
Want to learn, how to twerk? There are several ways to Twerk but the basics are important, isn’t it? Well, you have come to the right place. And the best part of Twerking is that it can be a great way of working out and having fun meanwhile.
Squat and Shake Twerk: –

Remember to take it slow and first get comfortable in this position.
Second, this step is to make you more sexually attractive. The basics are the same though. But this time pop your booty outward and pretend as if you are sitting on an invisible chair. You must keep your upper body straight and look ahead. (facial Expressions comes later) Don’t slag your upper body as it would make you look pretty bad and funny. If you are a fan of Miley Cyrus and got inspired by her ’Miley Twerk’, then you must have noticed that you must keep the torso straight and lean forward (almost 45 degrees).
Third, here comes the interesting part. Well, you don’t intend to stay fixed at the same place while twerk, do you? Of course Not. So you need to keep your hands on your thigh and use it to push out your hips. Use your hands to balance your body weight and move in coordination with your booty. If you are pretty confident that you don’t need to use your hands to maintain the body use, go ahead then lift up your arms in the air sway them to the music.
Keep in Mind-
- If you are intending to do a Miley Twerk, you should be able to move your hips from left to right rhythmically. Or you can always go with the standard twerk.
- Isolate your lower half and let it sway to the music. Dance moves are all about feeling it. But always keep your upper body stable.
- After a few practices, you should now be able to maintain your balance without your hands. So why don’t you try something new? Keep your hands in front of you, on your sides, or on your hips to make your move more appealing.
- (Disclaimer- only for increasing your sex appeal.) You can get lower on the ground and push out your body as far as it can go. Bent your torso upfront with your chin.
